EMOEC: the chase for the Mixed Europeans starts from La Maddalena

The EUROSAF Mixed Offshore European Championship (EMOEC), an event organized by Sailing Series International under the flag of EUROSAF, will start tomorrow afternoon from La Maddalena to Genova. The race, which will involve ten double handed crews, will be sailed using the Figaro Beneteau 3 fleet managed by the Organizing Authority.

Among the participants registered to take to the sea there is also Cecilia Zorzi who, last September in Naples, paired with Alberto Bona, won the same title, awarded as part of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Tour. Engaged on Mexedia Sailing Project, Zorzi will sail with Giovanni di Monaco and will have to deal with a highly international fleet.

In fact, seven Countries are represented in the entry list: two Italian teams, also given the registration of the duo composed of Pietro D'Alì and Lucille Frascari on board Ali Dell'Aria, while three are the Spanish crews, led by former Olympic sailor Patricia Cantero, racing with her brother Alejandro (the other pairs are Manera-Manera on Xuclameta, and Bauza-Puente).

The Red Dolphins team, top player of the 2021 season, will be reconstituted at the start. Composed by Sophie Faguet, dominatrix of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce, and Jonas Gerckens, already winners together of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Tour 2021. Considered among the favorites of the eve, the Belgian team, in addition to the teams mentioned so far, will find on its way the Uruguayan crew made up of Dominique Knupper and Federico Waksman, the Polish-Ukrainian team made up of Barbara Karpinska and Vladimir Kulinichenko and the British/Ireland duo, made up of Kate Ledgard and Matt Beecher.

As mentioned, the route will be the one connecting La Maddalena to Genoa: a non-direct navigation, articulated on the passage of certain waypoints that will be defined on the basis of weather forecasts. The sailing time should in any case exceed two full days, with the conclusion of the regatta scheduled for late Saturday afternoon.

"After putting the organization team back to full capacity with the dispute of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Women Offshore Mediterranean Championship, we are ready to award the first title of 2022. We have performed some good promotions, if it is true that we were amazed by the number of registrations received in sight of this regatta - explains a satisfied Riccardo Simoneschi, leader of SSI - Due to the high number of requests, we were forced to activate a waiting list, demonstrating that sailors appreciate the ideas and the format that are the basis of our events. In a wider sense we can say that this is a message to those who plan to participate in the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Tour and Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce: the entry spot will run out quickly and those who want to be sure of being in must move in time".
