MMNR Veloce, an epic start opened the edition number three

Venezia - Taking advantage of the favorable weather conditions and the providential opening of the Mose, which remained closed for a long time to contain the oscillations of the tide and save Venice from high water, the third edition of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce, the longest double-handed regatta of the Mediterranean, began as scheduled during the early afternoon today, leaving behind a lagoon city warmed by the rays of the autumn sun.

Mer Noire Sailing took the lead, thanks to an almost perfect start on the pin; the Benetea Figaro 3 of Giacomo Nicchitta and Nicolò Gamenara literally lined up the pursuers, showing the way first towards the harbor mouth and then the open Adriatic. Following him, one length behind, Team Tigullio of Andrea Cupaioli and Lorenzo Donati, and a step further back Marina Militare, racing with Andrea Pendibene and Andrea Trani, and Team Gas of Nicola Brunotti and Michele Rinaldi.

According to the weather forecast, the first night of navigation promises to be quite challenging: the fleet, which we remember is made up of the ten Beneteau Figaro 3 managed by SSi Events, is expected to encounter a rather nervous south-westerly wind, characterized by gusts that could reach 35 knots: a first passage into the darkness which, dispensing alternating fortunes, could already create selection.

We remind you that the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Veloce is organized in close partnership between Difesa Servizi SpA, a company of the Ministry of Defense that deals with valorising the assets of the Armed Forces, and SSI Events, a company specialized in organizing international regattas. The Navy supports the event as title partner. The record of the regatta, which at 1,492 nautical miles is by far the longest double-handed race in the Mediterranean, was set by Sophie Faguet and Pierre Lebouchers in 2021 with Team Urban Value and stands at 8d 8h 27m 23s.
